The Retirement Benefits Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) provides procedural guidance on determining eligibility for the various retirement systems, social security, and Medicare taxes.
The purpose of this SOP is to ensure that District employees are placed in the correct retirement system. Human Resources (HR) staff are responsible for correctly processing personnel actions for new hires, rehires, or conversions to benefit-eligible positions. HR staff should use this SOP to ensure that eligible employees are covered under the correct retirement plan.
